Mural News

SEBASTIAN, FL (November 6, 2025) - Members of Isola Arts and over 230 school children are hard at work on a 65 foot long mural that will appear on the side of the school at the end of December, 2025. The mural is being painted on a special material that allows the students to work on it in the classroom with three professional artists from Isola Arts.  The students are called up three at a time to work with the mural designer, Katherine Larson and two other artists, Michele Loftus-Trzcinski and Elizabeth Temple.

The mural features a series of uniquely designed turtles swimming in a sea of fantasy objects and patterns. The design allows for creative departure by the students, as well as accommodating the age related artistic skills of kindergarten through 5th grade. Each child will be able to paint on the mural at least three times during the course of the school semester. The mural will then be installed during the holiday break in December on a wall facing the main parking lot. The mural will also be visible from the road on 512.

The mural is being funded by the Sebastian Riverfront Fine Art and Music Festival and Isola Arts, Inc. The mural design was approved by the Sebastian Chamber of Commerce and the City of Sebastian.

The mural was designed by Katherine Larson, who also painted the large mural behind Mel Fisher’s Treasure Museum.  Katherine has done over 250 murals around the country and has won many commissions through art in public places. Her most recent mural will be installed in the Orlando Convention Center next month.  Visit Katherinelarson.com for more information on the artists.
